AILBHE MALONEstands on her desk to salute Oritsé from JLS: oh captain, my captain
TRACK OF THE WEEK
Haters Anonymousby Sky Ferreira. We're pretty sure Sky was Pop Corner's inaugural track of the week when the column launched about a year ago. In that time, she's had a few singles, a supposed album, and now- an EP, As If. Haters Anonymoussees Sky dissing internet trolls, and coming out on top.
She’s only two singles in, and already Willow Smith is acting like a diva. Namely, falling asleep in meetings – with Jay Z! It was no biggie, Willow insists: “I had glasses and so I was, like, nodding along, but they were listening to the song and he was just talking to my mom and dad. But I was really tired. I was probably asleep for, like, 10 minutes of it. But I didn’t miss anything (really good) . . . I only missed the parts where he was explaining to mum and dad where I’m going and when the single’s going to drop. I suppose that’s important.”
We’re sad to say that Dougie McFly has checked into rehab, following his split from Frankie Saturdays. He’s been in the Priory for the past four weeks, resting up and getting his head in shape. Confirming the story, Tom McFly tweeted: “He’s just been having a tough time lately and needed a few weeks rest so he’s fighting fit and ready to slap that bass for you on tour.”
We’ll end on a happier note: JLS are encouraging all and sundry to, erm, pick up a book. Band member Oritsé says he “loved studying English at school and creative writing was my thing. Everything I read inspires me, and it’s thanks to books that I don’t struggle with words when I write songs now. Songs, poetry and stories are all linked together, and they all inspire me. If it were not for books I would not be where I am today. Reading made me use my imagination and inspired me to write songs. It’s important for lads to read too. Computer games can take over but there’s a place for both.”
