“This helped me take a vacation from my own mind,” Suzie Ungerleider told straight.com about her new album.

The clue is in the title; Ungerleider, who flies under the alt.country flag of Oh Susanna, asked some fellow top Canadian songwriters to write her a new tune. The likes of Ron Sexsmith, Jim Cuddy and Nathan’s Keri Latimer obliged.

She had thought of a covers album, but producer Jim Bryson thought this a good wheeze. And it is, to a point. There are some very good songs here, but whereas a covers album can be a personal statement, this is more random, though she does her best to pull it together.

There are still lots of highlights – Royal Wood's Goodnight; Latimer's Cottonseed; Sexsmith's Wait Until The Sun Comes Up; Amelia Curran's Loved You More and Cuddy's Dying Light to name just five of 14 tracks.
