MUSIC NEWS:Young contemporary composer Nico Muhly, a favourite among indie fans thanks to his collaborations with Antony and the Johnsons, Björk, Grizzly Bear and Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, has been commissioned for an original score by Dublin's Crash Ensemble. The score will premiere at a concert called Young Americans, on November 25th, at Liberty Hall and was funded by the Arts Council of Ireland.

Muhly’s first opera, Two Boys, premiered at the English National Opera this year, and his music will be the focus of the concert, which will also feature a number of other young American composers, including Timothy Andres, Sean Friar and Missy Mazzoli. “Nico is one of the most dynamic American composers of our time,” said Crash Ensemble founder Donnacha Dennehy. “His music has an absolute now-ness about it, and that just fits completely with Crash’s engagement with the most adventurous yet communicative music of right now.” The concert will be recorded for broadcast on RTÉ Lyric FM.
