Kelis has been a fairly regular visitor to these parts over the years, but this George appearance is an intimate gig compared with supporting U2 at Slane or Britney Spears at the RDS. The reason Kelis hits South Great Georges Street is Pride 2011, which should ensure a full and lively house.

Kelis has had an eventful career, with five albums taking her from working with The Neptunes on her Kaleidoscopedebut to last year's electropop adventures with David Guetta, Boyz Noize and others on her Flesh Tonealbum. There have been some hits along the way – Milkshakeis her biggest by far – as well as some colourful interludes (a cookbook is in the works).

The gig is part of Davina’s 11 O’Clock Show, the regular Thursday night drag-stravaganza at the George, so pop quizzes and the like are also on the agenda.
