She has shared some big stages with some equally big names, but Kildare's Inni-K sounds most comfortable when delving into the sounds of her childhood. Early influences included trad and folk, but her debut album puts a folksy, poppy spin on the genres, breathily brandishing some quasi-beatboxing on Flower Relay and incorporating lilting African vocal melodies on Come With Me. Elsewhere, her sweet voice tentatively broaches the topic of heartache on Hold Tight. Perhaps too many songs are reliant on a formula of simple ukulele and scuffled percussion, but the album comes to a satisfyingly subtle crescendo on the twinkling title track, laden with soft strings, piano and the stately flourish of drums. inni-k.com
