.A day-long music event is set for Dublin's Whelan's this Sunday. The Christmas Record Fair, which is free to attend, kicks off in the main venue at 1pm and runs until 5pm. Later that evening, the first screening of music documentary One for the Roadtakes place at 7pm.

The 34-minute film was directed by Mark O’Toole and chronicles the rise and fall of Road Records, the much-loved independent music shop on Dublin’s Fade Street, which closed its doors last July. Opened by Dave Kennedy and Julie Collins in 1997, Road Records first fell into difficulties in early 2009, but received a temporary stay of execution after the music community came together to fundraise to keep it afloat.

Contributors to the documentary include Glen Hansard and Undertones frontman Paul McLoone. The film will be followed by a gig that includes performances by The Dinah Brand, The Jimmy Cake and guests. Tickets are €8 from whelanslive.com.
