Brandt Brauer Frick

Since 2009, German producers Daniel Brandt, Jan Brauer and Paul Frick have put their orchestral and classical schooling to other, somewhat more pulsating uses.Be it on record or live (with a 10-piece orchestral crew in tow), BBF’s intensely detailed patterns have energetically welded together jazz, classical and techno. Miami is an inventive homage to the Florida city, albeit more constructed in the imagination – BBF only spent a day in the place. Their Miami is full of dark, epic, dazzling, bold arrangements, with collaborators such as Nina Kraviz, Einstürzende Neubauten’s Gudrun Gut, Sa-Ra’s Om’Mas Keith and Jamie Lidell adding to the broody, menacing atmosphere on the likes of Verwahrlosung and Broken Pieces . A glorious piece of noir from the shadows.
