Regular visitors to these shores at this stage, Booka Shade were last seen turning things up at the Electric Picnic. Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier first met in their native Saarbruecken almost 25 years ago and began a trip that has taken them through Frankfurt clubland, writing Top 40 pop tunes, and onto their current home in Berlin’s thriving electronic scene.
As Booka Shade, the duo have gained a rap for shapely, smart club bangers, which reside in that space between house and techno. On record, as they've shown from their euphoric, twitchy debut album ( Memento) and this year's dancefloor-orientated More!, they have what it takes to produce a string of sleek, ultra-modern electronic beauties.
When not in Booka Shade mode, Merziger and Kammermeier are involved with DJT, Peter Hayo and the M.A.N.D.Y duo in overseeing the Get Physical label’s ongoing odyssey into deep electronica.
