Bank holiday weekend festival wrap

It’s officially the start of summer when the May weekend arts/ culture/music festivals kick in, and this weekend there’s an especially wide variety on offer from Belfast to Kilkenny via Westmeath, from Kerry to Dublin via Drogheda.

In Belfast, there’s the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival (St Etienne, Rubberbandits, Kitty, Daisy Lewis, Death in Vegas, Field Music, Yacht, Fatoumata Diawara).

In Co Kerry there’s Féile Na Bealtaine in Dingle (Cat Dowling, Lost Brothers, We Cut Corners). In Co Louth there’s the Drogheda Arts Festival (Gemma Hayes, Don Letts, Rabih Abou-Khalil) and the Vantastival (Cathy Davey, God Is an Astronaut, Ham Sandwich, RSAG, Le Galaxie, The Original Rudeboy).

In Co Westmeath there’s Festival of the Fires in Mullingar (Bressie, Jape, Hawkwind).

And last but by no means least, in Kilkenny there’s the Rhythm Roots Festival (Alabama Shakes, Amanda Shires, Willy Vlautin, Israel Nash Gripka, Danny the Champions of the World).

If you’re not happy with anything on offer, dude, may we politely suggest you check your pulse.
