Everybody Wants to Be on TV Epic***

Within the space of 35 minutes, UK's Scouting for Girls deliver one of the best guitar pop albums of the year. Make no mistake: the 10 pop-stun-gun songs here could easily be 10 chart hits, such is the level of chutzpah on display. That most of it sounds like James Blunt fronting Kaiser Chiefs is neither here nor there – songs as snappy and whipcrack-smart as This Ain't a Love Song, Little Miss Naughty, On the Radio, Blues as Your Eyes, Posh Girls(sample lyric: "there's nothing like a little bit of class wrapped in a perfect arse") and Famoushighlight the band's Roy Stride as a lyric writer bursting at the seams to leaven laddishness with sophistication. On the basis of this little cracker, he's definitely on the way. See scoutingforgirls.co.uk
