Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's Paul Oakenfold
Perfecto****
From supporting Madonna and U2 to bending and breaking any amount of styles and sounds, Paul Oakenfold was always one of the most interesting super-DJs who emerged from the heady days of the early 1990s. As individual as ever – he was last heard talking up Las Vegas as "the new Ibiza" – Oakenfold remains a colossal talent; someone who not only moves with the crowd but can get the crowd to follow him. On this cheekily titled compilation (41 tracks over two discs), which he says is a "straight up two fingered salute to all industry politics", Oakenfold runs riot over remixes and throws in a new single ( Tokyo)to boot. Sourcing his material from wherever he sees fit and jumping around sound styles with a palpable sense of enthusiasm, this is a needed reminder of how skilful and progressive Oakenfold remains.
