There may well be a rush of record labels hitting up former Danish ballerinas after this release to see if other dancers have similar musical smarts to Nanna Oland Fabricius. While she shares some musical lines with other idiosyncratic female acts (you'll hear tints of Lykke Li and Feist, for a start), Fabricius's smart, infectious, perfectly toned, unruffled pop strikes a fine individual note for all of that. Much of this album's appeal is down to how well her captivating voice and smooth, quasi-classical electronic beats work on well-crafted songs like
Sun Of A Gunand
Wolf I.There are a few attempts by producers Dan Carey and Dave McCracken to amplify Oh Land's more kooky, offbeat traits, but Fabricius is at her best when dishing up slinky, radio-friendly tunes, albeit with a bit of a twist. See ohlandmusic.com
