Glee: The Music, Season 1, Volume 2 Sony* * *

With the first volume of songs from the weirdly popular US TV show having become a massive seller earlier this year, there will be plenty of interest in how our all-singing, all-dancing heroes manage with this fresh bunch of songs. They again cast their net wide; included here are tunes by acts from The Rolling Stones to Kelly Clarkson. There really was no need for the anaemic cover of Lionel Richie's woeful Endless Love, but the cast are on track with an interesting mash-up of The Police's Don't Stand So Close to Meand Gary Puckett's Young Girl. Tossing John Lennon's Imagineinto the mix doesn't do anyone any favours, but a giddy version of Van Halen's Jump, an interesting take on Lily Allen's Smileand a brave stab at The Stones' You Can't Always Get What You Wantredeem this collection.
