General Fiasco

Unfaithfully Yours Dirty Hit **

Unfaithfully Yours Dirty Hit**

When they released their debut album in 2010, General Fiasco were in the same cluster of rising indie-pop starlets as fellow Northern Irishmen Two Door Cinema Club. Two years later and the Derry quartet's siren is comparatively subdued. There's nothing wrong with Unfaithfully Yours per se, but nor is there any sense of individualism, exhilaration or innovation. The collection half-heartedly shuffles between jaunty Vampire Weekend-style pop (Gold Chains, Waves) and tacked-on ballads that flop listlessly and serve only to mar any gathered momentum (This Is Living, The Bottom). It sounds like Owen Strathern co have simply run out of fresh ideas. General Fiasco are young enough to bounce back from this – but the next album will have to be really tremendous. generalfiasco.co.uk
