Pop NegroYoung Turks **
Two years ago Barcelona's Pablo Díaz-Reixa made many friends with Alegranza, which was the sound of a sample- crazy kid turning tropical soundclashes into fresh, unlikely pop rays. If that album was the sound of a child gleefully at loose with all the toys, Pop Negrois a more considered, less instant beast, as Díaz-Reixa reins in some of his rasher impulses and leaves the sampler to one side. That's not to say that he's doesn't come up trumps: the glorious FM Tan Sexyis a Bollywood- by-numbers delight, while Bombay is both pretty and effective. Still, Díaz-Reixa's insistence on material which lacks an edge or a bounce means you miss the more charming, unconventional joys and depth of Alegranza's mixing and matching. Next time out, Díaz-Reixa needs to rediscover the fun and imagination which attracted us to his hood in the first place. See myspace.com/elguincho
