An Intermediate Cup game between the west Belfast soccer team, Donegal Celtic, and Cullybackey Blues scheduled for today has been cancelled because of fears of loyalist tests. It is believed loyalists still picketing Catholic church in Harryville, Ballymena, were planning a demonstration at the game in nearby Cullybackey.
Mr Andy McIlhatton, secretary of Donegal Celtic, said he did not want club players travelling to a venue where they could be in danger. Cullybackey decided to cancel the game.
It is also feared there could be demonstrations when Cliftonville, which has a largely nationalist following in north Belfast, meets Glenavon in Lurgan today.
