This Year's Junior Dublin Film Festival runs from Sunday, November 22nd, to Wednesday, December 9th, with international films for young people showing at the Screen Cinema and Irish Film Centre in town; at the UCI cinemas in Coolock, Blanchardstown and Tallaght; and at the Bray Cineplex. (The booking office is at the IFC, 6 Eustace Street, Dublin 2; tel: (01) 671 4095; fax: (01) 670 3074.)

As part of its sponsorship of the festival, The Irish Times is delighted to offer free tickets for a whole class (up to 30 students) for one of three workshops in the festival: Canadian film producer Paul Stevens talks about adapting a book for young people to the screen (Monday, November 23rd); famed Irish writer/ director Gerry Stembridge talks about screenwriting (Tuesday, November 24th); and Film Institute of Ireland education officer Tony Tracy explains, with examples, how to "read" a film (Tuesday, December 1st).

All you've got to do to win is finish this sentence in no more than 20 words: "I prefer going to the pictures to watching television because . . ." The three best sentence-finishers will each treat the class to one of these workshops. Three runners-up will each win a family ticket to one film in the festival.

The deadline is next Tuesday, November 17th. Send your entries to film festival competition, media scope, The Irish Times, D'Olier Street, Dublin 2 - or to the fax and email addresses shown above. Be sure to include all your details, including a telephone contact at your school.
