The Ulster Orchestra, which toured Spain in May, will make a return visit to the BBC Henry Wood Proms in London on Friday, August 7th.

Principal conductor Dmitry Sitkovetsky will conduct the premiere of the specially commissioned Four Russian Songs For Symphony Orchestra by leading Russian composer Rodion Shchedrin, and US soprano Barbara Hendricks will sing Berlioz's Les nuits d'ete. Hendricks, who has not yet sung with orchestra in Ireland, will do so for the first time in a free, pre-Proms concert at the Ulster Hall on Wednesday, August 5th. It's being given as part of the BBC's annual free summer series which continues on Fridays from August 14th to September 11th.
