Mitt Romney has finally done something that is neither predictable nor nauseating. Asked to name his favourite film, he did not plump for some flag-waving war film. Of all things, he picked the Coen Brothers’ fugitive comedy O Brother, Where Art Thou? Perhaps he’s trying to remind voters that, like the characters in the film, America is suffering through a recession. That sounds a bit subtle for the current Republican spin-doctors. He probably just likes the songs. Fair enough.
