Marty in another dimension

It's all over. Film fans (such as this writer) who have no time for this 3D business were distressed to hear that Martin Scorsese is to shoot his next film in the irritating process. The Invention of Hugo Cabret, based on a popular book by Brian Selznick, will begin shooting as early as June. The news gets worse. It seems as if Werner Herzog is to use 3D for a documentary on prehistoric paintings in the Chauvet- Pont-d'Arc cave. Why? They're paintings, Werner. They're bleeding flat.
