Nite Jewel is chiefly the work of Ramona Gonzalez, an LA composer and multimedia artist who has already attracted art-world attention for her installations. While this 30-minute musical hurrah could fit into a parallel art-rock box, Good Eveninghas many moments when Gonzalez and collaborator Emily-Jane push beyond the arty fixings and find themselves in something of an alternative disco. And yes sir, they can boogie, throwing down numbers where you can picture Kate Bush wigging out to various vintage synthy jams and lo-fi, fuzzy beats. Suburbiaperfectly catches those hazy moments when sound and atmosphere veer between euphoria and comedown, while What Did He Saytakes its bearings from early, bass-focused r'n'b stirrings. www.myspace.com/ nitejewel
