Carlow IT hosts Eddie Kennedy’s spare, contemplative seascapes and Marie Hanlon has selected 80 or so works from open submission as well as a show of work by local artists.

Young, Glasgow-based artist Nick Evans shows at The Plaza in Shamrock Sq, as do ceramicists Sutton Taylor, Chris Carter, David Withers and Lucy Meagher, film installation artist Richard Mosse, sculptor Alan Counihan, and Joan Coen, who makes figurative paintings and drawings.

Photographers Anna Rackard, Gypsy Ray and Emmet Bergin also feature, plus the Carlow Photographic Society and the Slovenian Photography Club.

There's also an exhibition of chairs by nine Irish chairmakers who use native Irish timber. All feature in Alison Ospina's recent book, Green Wood Chairs: Chairs and Chairmakers of Ireland. (She'll give a talk at the exhibition on Sun June 14th at 2pm).
