A report in yesterday's editions dealing with the Bacon study on house prices incorrectly attributed information on stamp duty changes to the Minister for Finance, Mr McCreevy, suggesting that he had "let the cat out of the bag". In fact, the Minister made no such comments to journalists at an EU Finance Ministers' meeting in Luxembourg, in line with his established policy never to indicate fiscal changes before they are officially announced.
