STEVE COLLINS will be at least half a stone heavier than his opponent, Craig Cummings, when the pair step into the ring for tonight". World Boxing Organisation super middleweight world title fight in Glasgow.

It was always accepted that Collins would outweigh Cummings for this fight but the full implication of the discrepancy was not revealed until the official weigh-in last night.

Collins tipped the scales at 11 stone 13 3/4lb but Cummings was 6 1/2lb lighter at 11 stone 7 1/4lb.

On these occasions the boxers normally fast for several hours before they go to the scales but the differences seldom, if ever, are more than five or six ounces. In this case it appears that by the time the boxers get into the ring in the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow Collins will probably be at a considerable advantage.
