St Fachtna's Cathedral, Rosscarbery, Co Cork Fri; Bantry House, Bantry, Co Cork Sat/Sun 1850-788789One of the important things in a recession is, as it were, to remain standing. The Callino Quartet's Easter festival, which has been held variously in Cork county and city since 2006, is severely curtailed this year, but its still there.

The curtailment sees a reduction of the guest performers to two and the absence of actual collaborations – the programme will be limited to string quartets and piano solos.

The repertoire includes the now traditional free performance of Haydn's Seven Last Words, which opens the festival at St Fachtna's Cathedral, Rosscarbery on Good Friday. The remaining four concerts on Saturday and Sunday are all at Bantry House, with piano recitals at 6pm each day (Rebecca Capova on Saturday, Fionnuala Moynihan on Sunday), and the 8.30pm offerings from the Callinos will include Schubert's Rosamunde Quartet(on Saturday) and Beethoven's late Quartet in A minor (on Sunday).
