A MARBLE fireplace attributed to Bossi (above) will be the centrepiece of Denis Drum's fine art and furniture auction on February 15th. Mr Drum has put an estimate of £8,000-£12,000 on the chimneypiece, which is inlaid with green and amber marble and has a central tablet with swags of ivy.
The chimneypiece - which measures around 4 feet 6 inches by 5 feet 10 inches - has been installed in Denis Drum's saleroom in advance of the sale, but for many years it was stored away in the attic of a local house.
According to Mr Drum, the owner remembers his father acquiring it from a house in Merrion Square in the 1920s.
