UCD School of English has recorded a series of podcasts to accompany the One City, One Book event in April, which are aimed at helping the general reader engage more fully with the poems.
If Ever You Go is a new collection of poetry celebrating Dublin life commissioned by Dublin City Libraries for Dublin: One City, One Book 2014. UCDscholarcast has produced a series of podcasts by leading poets and critics to accompany this event. The first podcast can be downloaded at ucd.ie/scholarcast from tomorrow, April 1st, with new lectures being added every week during the month. These talks offer a series of reflections on poems and themes from the anthology and celebrate the important role that Dublin has played in the work of Irish poets over the centuries.
Poet Micheal O'Siadhail kicks things off with The Lyric Flow of Street , followed by Peter Denman of NUI Maynooth on Peopling the Place ; Lucy Collins of UCD with Mine by right of love: Women Poets in the City ; and poet Peter Sirr on Writing the City .
UCDscholarcast is a Digital Humanities project dedicated to the dissemination of academic research through podcasting. Its specially commissioned podcasts by leading scholars, writers and artists are recorded in studio to ensure a high-quality listening experience. These open access podcasts are aimed at a wide audience to broaden the impact of academic scholarship.
