A review of “East German Intelligence and Ireland 1949-90” By Jérôme aan de Wiel in the edition of January 17th said that author Ed Moloney, in his “A Secret History of the IRA”, suggested contact between East Berlin and the IRA, both provisional and official, and said that no evidence has yet been produced of it.
In fact, Mr Moloney’s book highlighted the lack of evidence for provisional/East Berlin contacts.
