The Underground@ Kennedy’s, Dublin Tonight 10pm €15 before midnight/ €20 01-6611124
It’s been a long, eventful road since the Big Dish Go crew began their trade as club runners five years ago. As an online collection of club flyers demonstrates, Michael Mayer, Mark Broom, Distance, Octave One, Mary Anne Hobbs, Luke Vibert, DJ Pierre, Altern8 and many other visiting and Irish DJs and acts have enjoyed Big Dish Go’s hospitality and entertained their dancefloors down through the years.
Tonight it’s a welcome return for Ivan Smagghe, club regular, Kill the DJ overseer and It’s a Fine Line co-pilot, and the peerless Andrew Weatherall, who must have played at every venue in the city at this stage.
There’s a five-hour, back-to-back set on the agenda for the night that’s in it, so expect smouldering electro, crunchy techno and assorted maverick sonics in that atmospheric wee room under Westland Row.
