Applause from abroad

THE Irish film, The Boy From Mercury, directed by Martin Duffy, has been collecting awards at the annual Italian children's film festival in Giffoni. A jury of 12 to 14 year olds voted it runner up for the overall jury prize. It was picked as the best film of the festival by the Film Journalists Association and by the Italian Film Distributors Association. It has yet to be selected for distribution in Ireland.
