UTV director's pay

MR Desmond Smyth, managing director Ulster Television (UTV), increased his remuneration from £223,797 sterling (€334,025) in 1997 to £253,775 (€378,768) in 1998, according to the group's annual report. The latest figures includes a bonus of £60,077 to reflect his work in relation to the substantial profit made by the company on the listing of shares in Societe Europeenne des Satellites, and a profit sharing bonus of £61,399.
