Hertz near $2.56bn deal to acquire Dollar Thrifty

Hertz is near a deal to acquire Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group and an agreement may be announced early this week, three people familiar with the talks said. The all-cash offer is believed to be for $87.50 a share, or about $2.56 billion (€2 billion).

Hertz has tried for more than two years to acquire Dollar Thrifty, the last available publicly held rental-car firm. It made a bid of about $1.2 billion in 2010 and made another offer last year that it later withdrew. – (Bloomberg)
