Dermot Quigley: Former Department of Finance civil servant who worked as assistant secretary on a number of budgets. Transferred to the Revenue eight years ago and has worked on overhauling the tax laws. He took up his post as chairman last July.

Tom Mulcahy: Banker since 1958 when he joined the National Bank - later subsumed into the Bank of Ireland - as a counter clerk. Moved to AIB in 1972 and became a director in 1990, overseeing the capital markets division based in the IFSC. Has been chief executive for the past four years.
