IRELAND under 16 striker, Ian Allen notched a dexterous hat trick from short corners as St Andrew's beat HFDLS Skerries 6-0 in the Leinster Schools' Junior hockey final at Grange Road yesterday.
It completed a first time double for St Andrew's, whose under 18s also hit six goals without reply from Newpark in the senior final, three weeks ago. Brothers Chris and Richard Beere were the respective captains, adding potency to the celebrations.
Leading 3-0 at half time, the winners' other scorers were Stuart Hammond and Alejandro Hernandez from open play and Jamie Plower, with a last minute penalty stroke. The eager Philip Dunne hit a post for Skerries, who were appearing in the school's first hockey final.
