Rushdie feels the weight of Croker entertainment

The Margin had the pleasure to be entertained by a certain financial institution at last Sunday's American football game in Croke Park. The entertainment was excellent; pity about the game which only served to confirm the Margin's view that American football is quite simply the stupidest game on earth.

The Star-Spangled Banner being sung by The Corrs was certainly a novelty as was OTT's rendition of Amhran na bhFiann. Both renditions were a long way removed from Finbarr Wright and the Artane Boys Band who usually provide the musical entertainment on big match days.

As for the "football", the Margin has seen more rough and tumble when the Dubs and the Royals are in action, not to mention when the men from Mayo sharpen their knuckles.

But back to the entertainment (the corporate sort). The Margin was quite intrigued to be offered a fine cut of beef sitting on what the menu described as a Potato Rushdie. This, it seems, is some middle eastern relation to a Potato Rosti.

No doubt, the salmon on offer on the menu is some relation to a Salman.
