A REPUBLICAN state senator from Texas took a memorable swipe at the party's San Diego convention. Praising Bill Clinton's contribution to the health of the US economy was, he said, like complimenting the rooster for the sunrise. Much the same might be said about Ruairi Quinn, Richard Bruton and other Government ministers who believe that the Irish economic growth rate is intimately linked to their sagacity.
