The arrival of Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) will not lead to a multiplicity of radio stations, RTE's director of radio, Ms Helen Shaw, has said. Speaking at a breakfast meeting yesterday organised by the Marketing Institute, Ms Shaw said: "There are 26 radio stations already - five national and 21 local - but DAB only provides for an additional 12 stereo channels. . . DAB will require substantial investment and therefore will be a reality only for the national players."
