High-technology tax collection received a boost this week as the Revenue Commissioners won an award for the use of a software system which modernises the tax administration. The Revenue site was one of five international winners of the Ingres Site of the Year award, presented by Computer Associates for what it called the "thoughtful and innovative" use of its software applications. The Computer Associates software is used in the Active Intervention Management (AIM) system, which is part of a larger programme to modernise the Irish tax administration. Mr Noel Doyle, of the Revenue Commissioners' IT department, said the AIM system provides more current, accurate and comprehensive information, which will lead to a "more streamlined and cost effective" collection operation.
