Readymix, the building products group, has announced investments and acquisitions amounting to £11 million (€14 million) as it gears up to take advantage of increased Exchequer investment in infrastructure.

The deals include the acquisition of O'Mahony Sand & Gravel and Kildavin Concrete. O'Mahony Sand, based in Cork, had net assets of £2.3 million at the end of last year. Kildavin, a Carlow producer of blocks and aggregates, had net assets of £2 million last month. The move expands the company's geographical and product coverage in the south-east.

The group is also targeting the concrete roof tile market with a £2 million investment in a new plant at its Naas, Co Kildare facility. This, said Readymix, would give it economies of scale. A further £2 million will be invested at Naas to expand its range of concrete pipes.
