BMC Software has appointed Mr Hugh Quigley as business development manager for Ireland. Prior to joining BMC Software, Mr Quigley worked in finance and account management in ICL, based in Dublin.
Mr John Kearney has been appointed executive director of Design Ireland, where he will oversee the implementation of Design Ireland's policy to heighten awareness of the design profession in the Republic and to champion the Irish design industry on the international stage.
A number of new appointments have been made at Avaya Ireland. Ms Ursula Traynor and Mr Roulf Bux have been recruited as channel account managers and will be involved in the development of the company's business partner programme for data and voice products in the Republic.

Ms Aoife Dunican has been appointed as a senior consultant at Prospectus Strategy Consultants, where she will work across a number of sectors including technology, financial services, public sector and healthcare.
Ms Dunican was previously marketing manager with Eircom Smartphone.
The Irish Aviation Authority has announced the appointment of Mr Donie Mooney as general manager of Shannon Air Traffic Control Centre in Co Clare.
BUPA Ireland has hired Ms Jan O'Meara as medical relations manager. Ms O'Meara joins BUPA Ireland from Fifth Quadrant Actuaries & Consultants Limited, South Africa, where she worked as an executive consultant.
Mr Shane Gaffney has been appointed billing manager at WorldCom Ireland. Mr Gaffney has been with WorldCom since 1998, having previously worked in retail management in the United States.
Mr Arthur Phelan has joined Mapflow as business development executive.
He will be responsible for marketing the Irish Mapping and Analysis Solutions technology in the Irish market.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers has appointed Mr David Fitzgerald as channel sales director in Ireland. Mr Fitzgerald has spent the past three years developing and running Siemens mobile phones in Ireland.
