P & O European Ferries is creating 45 new jobs at Larne Harbour as part of £291,000 investment in a new reservations call centre. Staff in the new centre will process reservations on the Larne-Cairnryan route as well as routes provided by Irish Ferries in the Republic. Speaking on behalf of P & O, Mr Denis Galway, said Larne was among several locations in Britain considered for the call centre. "However, the availability of quality, skilled and enthusiastic people in Northern Ireland, combined with the excellent telecommunications system tipped the scales in its favour," he said.
