The Government inquiry into the Ryanair dispute and other events which led to the closure of Dublin Airport last month will not contain any recommendations on union recognition, Ryanair's chief executive, Mr Michael O'Leary, has predicted.

Ryanair was involved in a nine-week dispute with 39 baggage handlers and SIPTU. Among the issues involved was union recognition. An inquiry led by former employers' leader, Mr Dan McAuley, and former trade union leader, Mr Phil Flynn, is underway.

Mr O' Leary said yesterday he believed the inquiry's findings would probably be published next month.

Mr O'Leary admitted Ryanair's handling of the baggage handlers' dispute had been a public relations disaster. He said he "put his hands up" - it was all his fault.
