Current Account was intrigued by an advertisement in The Irish Times this week by an unnamed "Nasdaq trading firm" looking for a branch manager to head up a new Dublin branch.

Needless to say, the job advertisement - which unusually appeared in a Monday edition rather than the usual Friday Business This Week recruitment advertising pages - has sparked some intense interest as to who this new entrant to the Irish market is.

Irish brokers, of course, have been trading increasingly on the Nasdaq market for their clients, but a specialist Nasdaq trader could divert some business away from the domestic players. But with Nasdaq stocks going increasingly pear-shaped as profit warning follows profit warning, it might not be the ideal time for any Nasdaq trader to expand its empire.

Still if you've got more than five years experience in "financial industry management" and have "entrepreneurial drive", this could be the job for you.
