The owner of the former Norsk Hydro plant in north Mayo has confirmed that it will be sold "within a week". Mr Gerard Clarke, who operates a farm machinery business in Cavan, declined to name the purchaser.
Mayo County Council and a Cork-based company have discussed a proposal to convert sludge from sewerage treatment plants in Connacht to a soil conditioner on the site.
