German shares fell sharply, in line with the debt market after the US jobs data. The IBIS DAX index of electronic trading was 1.2 per cent down by 1445 GMT. Earlier, the DAX index of floor trading had closed at record high before Wall Street opened.
Paris CAC-40: 2327.50 (-21.58)
In Paris, French shares doubled their losses after the US figures and the CAC 40 blue chip index was almost 1 per cent down.
Milan Mibtel: 11418 (+319)
After months in the doldrums, the Milan bourse has taken off as buyers go on a stock buying spree, driven by a realisation in Italy that, as interest rates fall, the handsome returns from investments in treasury paper, enjoyed for a generation, will disappear.
