Frankfurt DAX: 5982.42 (-14.35)

Paris CAC-40: 4256.35 (-62.83)
France's CAC-40 blue-chip index was down almost 1.3 per cent in the afternoon as investors continued to lock in gains from a string of record closes earlier in the week. Trading was thin, however, ahead for a four-day weekend for the Bastille Day holiday.
Milan Mibtel: 24639 (-49)
Italian shares pulled back late in the day to close marginally lower as the US market ran out of steam. Leading blue-chips were mixed and bank stocks were in focus.
