Share prices on the Dublin market slipped a little in quiet afternoon trading yesterday, affected partly by weaker London and New York markets.

The financial stocks were most affected with AIB, Anglo Irish Bankcorp and Bank of Ireland all drifting down. The overall index was down 8.65 points.

In London, the market continued its recent good performance during initial exchanges yesterday, despite the slide in the Dow Jones Industrial Average. But it began to look extremely uneasy towards the close, finishing 23.2 lower at 3744.2, only a couple of points above the day's low.
