Don't let this happen to you. An Irish woman was on holidays in Gran Canaria recently and saw "lovely leather jackets" in a shop. She read the price tag as 19,000 pesetas (£90). One month later, she received her credit card bill.
To her horror, 190,000 pesetas (£900) had been debited from her account for the jacket. She called the European Consumer Centre who said: "Unfortunately there's nothing this upset customer can do. When we contacted the shop, they said 190,000 pesetas was the correct price and the customer misread the label."
The centre warns holiday makers to be very careful reading price tags in different currencies. Also, check your visa slip carefully before you sign.
