THE new government will have to act quickly to remove the anomalies and inequities in auditors' public liability, according to Mr Paul O'Connor, the new chairman of the Leinster Society of Chartered Accountants (LSCA).
Addressing the annual general meeting of the LSCA, he said:
"We cannot afford to continue in a situation where chartered accountants, even in your own institute, who practice in the UK, have a different playing field to those in the Republic. The profession needs to press for change in the current situation and the government needs to act".
Mr O'Connor is a senior manager of Price Waterhouse.
