Jobs for disabled demanded

The Government yesterday began a push for companies to employ more people with disabilities

The Government yesterday began a push for companies to employ more people with disabilities. Speaking at the start of Disability Awareness Week, the Minister of State, Ms Mary Wallace, said: "People with disabilities are not some tiny minority which can be ignored, out of sight and out of mind. One in every 10 in our society has some form of disability." She said that in these times of labour market skills shortages, employers should "look beyond the disability to the person" and the jobs he or she could perform.
